Mr Matlala gave Brown Mogotsi R20,000 for booking accommodation for police experts to investigate the raid, and later R150,000 for an ANC January 8 celebration.

“I gave him that money. I think it was 20,000, I think. ... I paid also 150,000 to his account for that January 8 celebration of the ANC.”

Mr Carrim is the ANC Treasurer in the North West region, where his companies have been paid hundreds of millions of rands by provincial and municipal government entities.

“companies in this group... have been paid hundreds of millions of rands from the North West Provincial Government and North West municipalities in the region of which he is the ANC Treasurer.”

Mr Sayed sent questions to General Khan that were formulated to trap the Inspector General into lying about his relationship with convicted druglord Timmy Marimuthu, with a view to orchestrate his removal. The questions also mention the use of state intelligence resources to ensure Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma's election as ANC President.

“These questions ... Do you have a relationship with convicted draglord Timmy Marimuthu ... Have you had any discussions with convicted druglord Timmy Marimuthu regarding the supposed deal made by former President Jacob Zuma and Major General Feroz Khan ... to ensure the election of Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as President of the ANC?”

The witness started investigating why General Khan's name was specifically pushed, drawing parallels with President Ramaphosa whom the ANC would want to protect, and identifying a so-called 'Indian Cabal' related to IDAC involving persons such as Johnson, Padayachee, Khan, Paul O'Sullivan, and Brian McKnight.

“Then later, that is when I started looking at this thing... so-called Indian Cabal... a subject of many in IDAC... there is a certain relationship when I connect dots between Johnson, Padayachee, Khan, I also put in Paul O'Sullivan there, Brian...”

The witness was prompted by the Ad Hoc Committee not to summon General Khan, with political shielding of President Ramaphosa by the ANC and reluctance to summon General Khan despite serious allegations.

“Certain members of the Ad Hoc Committee did not see the necessity of summoning General Khan for questioning ... In the case of President Ramaphosa, I understood from the political standpoint that he would be likely be shielded by ... ANC. However, with respect to General Khan, I could not understand the reluctance to call him before the committee, particularly the weight and seriousness of allegations that had been formulated and tabled against him.”

Chief Mashaba does not dispute referring to an ANC election rally in his message to Mr Nku.

“You do not dispute that you were referring to an ANC election rally, correct, in this message that you sent to Mr Nku ?”

Chief Mashaba characterizes the rift or distraction involving Mr. Tumelo in 2019 as related to ANC issues and a rally, acknowledging Tumelo as an ANC person.

“Like I am saying , 2019 . Like I am saying , I know if it is something to do with rallies, it is ANC things . So I cannot remember 2019 , what was happening or what was the rally all about or which rally was this .”

Mr Mogotsi says the delay in reaching out to Mr Matlala from March-April to December 2024 was due to waiting for the new administration after the 29 May 2024 elections and the announcement of the new cabinet in June.

“we had to wait for the new administration ... when the ANC parliamentary list came out ... former Minister Bheki Cele did not make it ... new cabinet was announced in June”

Mr Mogotsi explained he waited to start investigating the contract until after the new administration was in place, around June 2024.

“I spoke about having to wait for the new administration and so forth ... when the ANC parliamentary list came out ... that is when we realized there is going to be a new Minister ... and we waited”

The list was given for the purpose of assisting and gaining advantage in a tender process, not for verification of political affiliations.

“They want to get a certain advantage through your assistance to do with a tender... This is a tender process of the City... It should not matter whether the people are ANC or not.”

Sergeant Nkosi confirmed Mpho Lekukela is associated with the ANC.

“Sergeant Nkosi confirmed that he is associated with the ANC.”

Deputy Chief Dhlamini expressed uncertainty whether Muzia and Sipho were from EFF as they were known to him from student movement and last known as ANC members; he was puzzled by their claim to represent EFF.

“I cannot tell whether they are EFF. I know them from student movement. The last time I know them, they were ANC members. So, I am not sure whether they moved or what. That is what puzzled me when they came to namedrop, I meant the EFF thing.”

According to a news article, Mr Modise at the time of the tender award was secretary of the ANC in the Tshwane region since 2018, implying he was in the service of the state at that time.

“When the Tshwane Council awarded Triotic , the contract in February 22 , Modise was secretary of the ANC in the Tshwane region , a position he has held since 2018 .”

Mr Lekukela is politically affiliated with the ANC.

“That is correct.”

General Sibiya informed Sergeant Nkosi that he was receiving pressure from head office, specifically from the Deputy Minister's office, regarding a matter involving an insult to a Member of Parliament and a crime created against Fikile Mbalula, secretary of the ANC.

“After 45 minutes I received again a call from General Sibiya telling me that or confirming to me about what already General Ramangwa had said to me, that this is a matter of importance. The person involved there, he did not mention who he was, but he mentioned to me he is getting pressure from head office. Head office, the office of the Deputy Minister, he is getting pressure from them... He said this guy insulted a member of Parliament. He told me now the member that he created a crime against is Fikile Mbalula, the secretary of the ANC.”
