Mr Mnisi reached out to Siphiwe Mashile to approach Sergeant Nkosi to facilitate a meeting concerning a conflict with Mr Lekukela.

Mr Mnisi arranged a meeting involving himself, Sergeant Nkosi, Mr Mashile, and Mr Lekukela to broker peace related to a conflict.
“Now, who was present at that meeting? Myself, Sergeant Nkosi, Mr Mashile, as well as Mr Lekukela. It was just the four of you.”
Sergeant Nkosi phoned Mr Lekukela to remind him about not interfering with people's girlfriends.
“I did manage to phone Mr Lekukela, who I was talking to at that time. He just reminded me that we were talking about how he could have warned the deceased of not interfering with people's girlfriends.”
Sergeant Nkosi sent police exhibit photographs of a crime scene in Limpopo involving a suspect arrested with firearms and money to Mr Lekukela, sourced from social media, to share information and discuss crime.
“It was the photograph of a scene of crime that happened in Limpopo, where a suspect were arrested in possession of firearms and this money. I was sending this to Mr Lekukela because it was on social media... we usually talk about this kind of crimes.”
Sergeant Nkosi communicates almost exclusively with Mr Lekukela about crimes and suspicious matters occurring around them.
“I usually communicate or talk to Mr Lekukela mostly about this kind of things. Even himself, wherever he is in his private life, when he sees something suspicious, he also send to me...”
Sergeant Nkosi confirmed Mr Lekukela was an official in the Tshwane Municipality before moving to Rustenburg Municipality.
“Mr Lekukela had been an official in the Tshwane Municipality and then he moved to the Rustenburg Municipality.”
Sergeant Nkosi sent a photograph to Mr Lekukela three days after DJ Sumbody's murder, including a caption 'Why didn't you call him to order?'.

The photograph sent by Sergeant Nkosi showed Mr Lekukela and DJ Sumbody.

Sergeant Nkosi wrote the caption 'Why didn’t you call him to order?' referring to DJ Sumbody and Mr Lekukela in the photograph.
“the caption that you put on your message is: “Why didn’t you call him to order?””
Sergeant Nkosi denies that his message implied that if Mr Lekukela had called DJ Sumbody to order, DJ Sumbody might still be alive.
“Commissioners, I would not appreciate when you associate me with knowing what happened with DJ Sumbody, or what might be the cause, based on what I wrote here, why didn’t you call him to order. It had nothing to do with anything.”
Sergeant Nkosi affirms DJ Sumbody and Mr Lekukela were friends.
“Were DJ Sumbody and Mr Lekukela friends? That is correct.”
Sergeant Nkosi admits that DJ Sumbody was close to Mr Lekukela, but cannot recall the exact context of his message on that day and will check with Mr Lekukela.
“DJ Sumbody was close to Mr Lekukela. And I would not know what exactly we were talking about on that day, or that led me to say these words. But if maybe during lunch, I would be given an opportunity, I would check with Mr Lekukela on, really, really, if he remembers. Then I would come back.”
Sergeant Nkosi sent a warrant of arrest of Musa Khawula to Mr Lekukela to notify or alert nearest police officials if they saw Musa Khawula in places such as pubs in Bryanston.
“The reason that I sent it to him, I wanted him also to notify me or notify then nearest police when he sees Musa Khawula... especially there in Bryanston, he usually sees him... I then took advantage of that and said to him, please, when you see him, the nearest police, inform them, this is the copy of the warrant...”
Mr Lekukela is politically affiliated with the ANC.
“That is correct.”
Sergeant Nkosi understood that Mr Mnisi meant they were managing Mr Lekukela, not Mr Malema, in the WhatsApp message.
“So when Mr Mnisi sent you this WhatsApp, was he saying we are managing Mr Malema and I wanted to show you that Mr Lekukela ... is never going to win. ... At that time he was not, he did not meant that. ... What did you understand him to mean with that WhatsApp? I would not want to merge or to understand that I was in support of that, but I am just shown that the message was, said that Mr Mnisi are managing Mr Malema and therefore Lekukela would not win.”
Sergeant Nkosi sent Mr Lekukela an invitation to General Sibiya's birthday celebration to accompany him, despite Mr Lekukela not being a friend of General Sibiya.
“On the 14th of December 2023 you sent Mr Lukukela an invitation to General Sibiya's birthday celebration ... I wanted him to go with me to General Sibiya's birthday ... He did not state whether whom must I come with. I just felt that I must come with this one. ... No. He is not. ... Yes. ... So you felt entitled to bring him to General Sibiya's birthday celebration although he was not a friend of General Sibiya? ... I did not see a problem in that.”
Mr Mnisi wanted to meet Sergeant Nkosi and Mr Mashile in January 2024 to coordinate peace between Mr Mnisi and Mr Lekukela due to their conflict at Tshwane.
“It was a peace meeting where I was supposed to coordinate between Mr Mnisi and Mr Lekukela”
Sergeant Nkosi intervened in the conflict between Mr Mnisi and Mr Lekukela at Tshwane because he knew Mr Lekukela personally.
“I grew up with him in Soshanguve and I know Mr Gareth Mnisi, and I had to intervene in their conflict”
