General Senona was scheduled to appear on 8 May 2026, but his testimony was postponed multiple times to 5 June due to an application by him and Commission scheduling challenges.

General Senona was not intended to be engaged as an implicated person regarding the Port Shepstone drug bust, but as head of DPCI-KZN as part of management ultimately responsible.

In August 2020, Major General Senona was appointed Provincial Head of DPCI KZN, at the same time as the speaker's permanent appointment as Provincial Commander of SOCI.

In 2024, General Senona attended the speaker's father's funeral in KwaZulu-Natal with KZN DPCI management and members.

There was a captain acting in the place of Colonel Jacob when he was on leave at DPCI KZN offices.
“There would have been a Captain that was there.”
Adv Sello contends that the common practice of acting officers not being respected undermines protocols and leads to immediate undermining of acting appointments in DPCI KZN, possibly contributing to systemic problems.
“Nobody seems to comply with any applicable prescripts and protocols. So even acting appointments are affected and they are immediately undermined.”
On 22 June 2021, Colonel Khuwayo received a call from DPCI KZN members requesting FS L members to assist at a drug-related crime scene the next day.
“On the 22nd of June 2021, I received a call from a member of DPCI, KZN... I was requested to make members of FS L available to assist the DPCI members for a crime scene the following day. I was informed that it is related to drugs.”
There were six break-ins at the Port Shepstone premises before June 2021, and the latest before the theft was on 15 January 2021; a security breach report was submitted by Lt Colonel S R Singh to multiple crime intelligence and security heads in KwaZulu-Natal.

Most importantly, on 22 January 2020, Lieutenant Colonel S R Singh, Acting Section Commander, Counter Intelligence, Crime Intelligence KZN, submitted a report to the Provincial Head of Crime Intelligence KZN, Provincial Head of the DPCI KZN, Section Head, Operations, Crime Intelligence KZN, Section Commander UGU Cluster, Crime Intelligence KZN, and the National Head, Security Standards, Counter Intelligence to address the security breach at the Port Shepstone premises following the 20 January 2020 break-in.”
After consultation, Brigadier Campbell Nyuswa instructed that the cocaine be taken to Port Shepstone for storage, consulting Maj-Gen Senona Provincial Head of DPCI KZN.
“According to Colonel Jacob , Brigadier Campbell Nyuswa gave an instruction to take the cocaine to Port Shepstone for storage after consulting Maj - Gen Senona Provincial Head of DPCI KZN .”
