Witness met Brown Mogotsi, a businessman who reports irregularities in the North West and is perceived as a knowledgeable source, surrounded by rumors of illegal conduct in North West province.

“I first met Mr Mogotsi during 2020 around Rustenburg as a source who gave information about illegal conduct and practices around the North West. He was said to be a businessman who knows a lot of things and frequently reports irregularities within the North West Province.”

Sergeant Nkosi stated Mpho Lekukela was working in Rustenburg administration office in late 2024/early 2025 and had moved there by late 2024.

“he is working in Rustenburg in administration office there in Rustenburg ... Yes, he had moved”

Lieutenant-General Shibiri confirmed the existence of a group of five persons involved in mining interests in Rustenburg and Brits, with links to taxi operations and ownership of a fleet of taxis.

“Yes, him, I am sure they are five. They are a group of five. They were five. They are having other companies together. They are having other companies together also, or mining rights together. All of them, they were known for taxi. They were owning taxis. They were owning a fleet of taxis.”

Advocate Khumalo SC reported that the person arrested, Mr Molefe, was a business partner with a group of people involved in mining interests in Brits and Rustenburg, and they were sharing information to assist ongoing investigations.

“the arrested person, being Mr Molefe, was business partners with these people I am mentioning and they have mining interests and that was information which I got and also somewhere in Brits”
