Mr Armand Swart

Brigadier Nkwashu gave an affidavit voluntarily in response to summons to appear at the Judicial Commission of Inquiry regarding allegations of interference in the bail proceedings of Michael Pule Tau, demand for the Armand Swart murder docket, and relationship with Katiso Molefe.

“I make this affidavit voluntarily in response to the summons/subpoena...directing me to appear... in relation to my attempts to interfere the bail proceedings of Michael Pule Tau. The second one was my demand for the Armand Swart murder docket, and my relationship or connection with Katiso Molefe...”

Brigadier Nkhwashu confirms his involvement in the coordination started early after a shooting incident involving Armand Swart.

“When the shooting of Armand Swart took place, the members, including the colonel that I spoke about, attended the crime scene. And as an Acting District Commissioner, they had to report to me that incident because it is a serious incident.”

Brigadier Nkwashu apologized to the family of Armand Swart for the loss of life caused by his brother-in-law and stated the brother-in-law must pay for his deeds.

“I would like to apologise, especially to the family of Armand Swart, whose life has been lost at the hands of this brother-in-law of mine. And say, at least I have tried to do justice, and I will continue to ensure that justice is achieved. If indeed he was involved in the matter of Armand Swart, he needs to pay for his deeds.”

Mr Mthakathi said that Danny is the person ultimately standing trial for the murder of Mr Armand Swart.

“It was Mr Mthakathi who said to you I got information that it is, well, Mr Mabusela. Who is ultimately standing trial for the murder of Mr Armand Swart.”

Mr Mthakathi Mswazi sent Sergeant Nkosi a video on 21 April, which was CCTV footage of the murder of Mr Armand Swart.

Sergeant Nkosi fetched a paper bag from the home of Katiso Molefe, who is an accused in the murder of Armand Swart, and this was shown in a video clip played during a public hearing.

“Previously, General Khumalo's testimony revealed that Sergeant Nkosi fetched a paper bag from the home of Mr Katiso Molefe, one of the accused in the murder of Mr Armand Swart. During the testimony, a video clip depicting this event was played, showing both Mr Molefe and Sergeant Nkosi.”

Lt-Gen Shibiri was reluctant to report that a person was charged with the murder of Armand Swart, explaining that the person was instructed not to talk about the case with anyone.

“He was given instruction that they must not talk about this case with any person”

Lt. Gen. Shibiri is opposing the bail of the suspects in the Armand Swart murder case and is perceived by some as blocking the bail.

Lieutenant-General Shibiri linked a series of murders, including the Armand Swart murder, to violence within the taxi industry and to contract killers previously working for Mr Mswazi.

“I was referring to the murders happening from that particular group. So, I was thinking their link is about taxi violence... after Armand Swart murder happened, and then this person, Molefe arrested, and these people who were contract murderers from the taxi industry side...”

Mr Armand Swart was killed sometime in April 2024.
