Chief Mashaba was asked to assist police with recovering money stolen at the airport involving persons known to Mr Nku, including Gauza.
“I wanted Mashego to assist Nku about maybe recovering whatever that was lost at the airport because they were working there, or they are still working there. I do not know.”
Chief Mashaba admits constituting a team of police officers (Mashego, Twala, Mvinjelwa) arranged with Mr Nku to be paid (topped up) in the context of the stolen goods recovery operation.
“So you were arranging for police officers Mashego, Twala, and Mvinjelwa to be paid by Mr Nku ... you constituted a team of the three and they are all police officers.”
Warrant Officer Phakula received a notice to appear at an expedited disciplinary hearing dated 8 September 2021 but was never served with a notice of investigation as per regulations.
“I received a phone call from Lieutenant Colonel Mashego ... he gave me the notice to appear for my disciplinary hearing, which was dated the 8 September 2021 at Stock Theft Boardroom. I was never served with a notice of investigation as per the Regulations.”
Sergeant Nkosi shared to Mr Mampane exchanges related to an internal audit report into Mr Matlala's contract, which involved responses from General Phokane and the City Press newspaper.
“You also forward to Mr Mampane the exchanges that we have seen previously that were forwarded to Mr Motsumi, the approach from Mr Mashego, the City Press newspaper, the response of General Phokane and the internal audit report into Mr Matlala's contract.”
