Mr Mogotsi says all names he provided have been departmental charged and many individuals mentioned have been caught except an informant and investigating officer of the informant who he says was killed.

“Even if I was prepared to incriminate myself, all the names I have given you, even one man is in hospital, has been departmentally charged. Every person I mentioned here... the informant ... the investigating officer of the informant ... he was killed.”

Mr Mogotsi claims there is an informant who pretended to have passed on money, was given 50,000, and then was killed three days later after meeting police who were to accompany the handler.

“I spoke of an informant who was in the operation and pretended to have passed on and money was claimed, he was given 50,000. I gave the name of the police who wanted to accompany the handler to meet the informant. After meeting, three days later, the informant was killed.”

General Shibiri introduced Sergeant Nkosi to an informant who had information about kidnappers and illicit cigarettes sourced from Zimbabwe.

“He informed me that this one has got information of the kidnappers. That was according to General Shibiri. And he also got the information about the illicit cigarettes that had been sourced from Zimbabwe”

The informant given to Sergeant Nkosi by General Shibiri came from Pakistan.

“The informant came from Pakistan”

General Shibiri briefed Sergeant Nkosi about the informant and the addresses that the informant would point out, alleging irregularities at those addresses.

“General Shibiri briefed me first in the presence of the informant, that this informant is going to show you the said addresses that he alleges that there is irregularity there”

Sergeant Nkosi was introduced to the informant by General Shibiri and briefed about the informant's task in his presence.

“When we were formally introduced, I was briefed about what the informant is going to do with me”

The second address photograph taken by Sergeant Nkosi was in Pretoria Central Business District at a meeting with the informant.

“where were you when you took the picture of the informant's phone? In Pretoria ... just in CBD”

Sergeant Nkosi's informant had access to SAPS personnel computer systems and was in possession of SAPS personnel details meant to be confidential.

“He knows people inside SAPS who are going to leak SAPS personnel details...that informant is in possession of information that he should not be in possession of.”

Sergeant Nkosi informed General Shibiri about the informant leaking SAPS personnel information but took no further steps against the informant.

“I informed the matter to General Shibiri...Did you take any steps against this informant? No...Because I referred the matter back to General Shibiri...I was expecting such to be done by him...he said to me he would make a follow-up.”

The informant wanted to communicate an address where kidnappers were holding people against their will, and chose to do so by providing the SAPS personnel screen giving the address details of a SAPS officer.

“the informant to give you an address where the informant said he had heard kidnappers were holding people against their will ... by providing you with a SAPS personnel screen, giving the address details of a SAPS officer”

Sergeant Nkosi sent General Shibiri the informant's information to ask him to make a follow-up as the informant refused to reveal particulars of those who gave him the information.

“I wanted him to make a follow-up ... because the informant refused to tell me about the particulars of those people who were giving him information. That is the reason I was referring the matter to General Shibiri, with the mind that the informant might have maybe a better comfort with him to tell him who are those people who gave him such.”
