Adv Chaskalson asserts that the photograph taken by Sergeant Nkosi shows a SAPS screen containing a SAPS officer's service number, home address, and email address, which implies whoever took the original photograph had access to a SAPS internal computer.

“If you look at the picture, it is a SAPS screen. It has the service number of a SAPS officer. It has the home address of a SAPS officer. It has the SAPS email address of a SAPS officer. So whoever took the original picture that you photographed would have to have been someone with access to a SAPS computer.”

The informant wanted to communicate an address where kidnappers were holding people against their will, and chose to do so by providing the SAPS personnel screen giving the address details of a SAPS officer.
