Mr Nku called Dr Precious Mabuza, daughter of the late Deputy President Mabuza, to share his discomfort with the drug bust situation. Dr Mabuza promised to inform Lieutenant General Mboto of the Hawks in North West Provincial Head office, but Mr Nku's phone was taken away and he did not receive that call. Later, Dr Mabuza informed him that Lieutenant General Mboto tried to call him multiple times after his phone seizure.

I then called Dr Precious Mabuza, who is the daughter of the late Deputy President Mabuza. I told her that I gave information to SAPS about a drug bust, but the situation was making me feel uncomfortable. She promised me that she will inform Lieutenant General Mboto from Provincial Head of Hawks, DPCI North West. However, my phone was shortly taken away and I did not receive that call. I was later informed by Dr Mabuza that General Mboto tried to call me multiple times on the day, by the time my phone had been seized.

During August 2024, TO MS arrested 17 suspects and seized 32 firearms at Sun City, but Lieutenant Colonel Gkekoane and Lieutenant General Mboto interfered attempting to declare suspects as security and firearms as legally owned.

On 6 August 024, TO MS unit arrested 17 suspects and seized 32 firearms. ... Lieutenant Colonel Gkekoane informed me he is there as per instruction of Lieutenant General Mboto. ... Due to lack of space at Sun City Police Station, the suspects were detained at Rustenburg Police Station. ... I informed General Mboto that it was a lie as the security found at the scene was tight security ... The 17 suspects arrested were in civilian clothing and there were no registered permits and licenses to possess firearms for all 32 firearms seized. General Mboto was insisting firearms belonged to security company and are legal. That was his final stance on the phone.
