National Instruction 8 of 2017 on Property and Exhibit Management is known and understood by district or heads of various police stations.

Colonel Jacob confirmed that all property and exhibits seized must be registered as per National Instruction 8 of 2017 and transferred to the relevant unit's SAPS 13 register.
“All property and exhibits seized must be entered in the SAP 13 property register of the relevant police station ... and then transferred to the relevant unit and entered in the SAPS 13 of the relevant unit.”
Colonel Jacob acknowledged that the police did not comply with National Instruction 8 of 2017 section 7.4 regarding registration of property at Maydon Wharf.
“Why did you not comply with 17.4 ... All property and exhibits must be entered in the SAP 13 of the relevant police station ... Maydon Wharf being the nearest police station?”
General Flynn confirmed that National Instruction 8 of 2017, annexed as Annexure HFF2, is the correct instruction referred to by General Mosikili in his report.
“That is the correct instruction , National Instruction Commissioners , that is correct .”
