Mr Matlala had a commercial transaction with Mr Steven Motsumi wherein Motsumi's company lent one of Matlala's companies (Medicare) R5 million on the basis of a written agreement at the end of 2024.
“I can confirm that I know Mr Motsumi and that I have done a commercial transaction with him wherein his company had lent me in advance one of my companies an amount of R 5 million.”
Mr Matlala knew Steven Motsumi through the late Jotham Msibi, they were very close friends, and Matlala had social interactions with Motsumi before asking for the loan.

General Sibiya communicates with Mr Matlala and Mr Motsumi indirectly through Sergeant Nkosi on WhatsApp to avoid leaving a direct communication trace.
