Brigadier Cronje

IDAC prosecutors are assigned to four groups but may work across groups for experience or to meet shortages; this flexibility was introduced by Advocate Johnson replacing a prior permanent group allocation approach by Advocate Cronje.

Advocate Cronje was in office approximately April 2019 to February 2022.

Advocate Johnson did not inherit many documents from Advocate Cronje when he took office.

General Feroz Khan arrived at the scene, asked about the person filming and immediately instructed Captain Cronje that the person must be arrested and confiscated the filming person's phones.

“The gentleman introduced himself as General Feroz Khan... He immediately instructed for Captain Cronje to be called and that I must be arrested. He told me I must give my phones and step out of the car.”

Captain Cronje confirmed to the arrested person that he was only following instructions when arresting the individual, and took possession of the person's phones which were placed in an exhibit bag.

“I asked Captain Cronje the reason for my arrest and he told me that he is simply following an instruction. My phones were placed in an exhibit bag.”

On 3 October 2025, Brigadier Cronje called the speaker to sign another post-acceptance certificate but also recommended that the speaker was not a suitable candidate for promotion based on the Booysen CAS 98/7/2021 case.

“On 3 October 2025, I was called by Brigadier Cronje to sign another post-acceptance certificate. I signed and Brigadier Cronje also signed and recommended that I was not the suitable candidate again, referring to the Booysen CAS 98/7/2021 as the reason why I should not be promoted.”

The speaker explained to Brigadier Cronje that the Booysen case was finalized and that there was no open case against the speaker.
