The DPCI investigators never sat down with Brigadier Nyuswa, only came with questions after he gave his statement.
“The only time they would come, like, I gave the statement, and then they came with a set of questions”
Brigadier Nyuswa did not know anything as the previous Unit Commander and was not engaged in deeper investigation by the DPCI or General Detective investigators.
“I am the previous Unit Commander there. Did I know anything, you know? No, there was nothing.”
The DPCI investigators were the only ones who interviewed Brigadier Nyuswa as part of the investigation; the General Detective investigators did not interview him before the docket was taken away from them.
“No, no . Maybe they were still coming, but the docket was taken away from them”
On the day the theft was discovered, the DPCI investigators were not on the scene, only Brigadier Sibiya and the District Commissioner were present from the General Detective side.
“They were not on the scene... The District Commissioner was there”
The crime scene must be cordoned off to prevent unauthorized access, and key players such as DPCI investigators and K9 dogs must be present.
“The crime scene must be cordoned off to ensure that no unauthorised individuals gain access to the scene. Ensure that the necessary role players are present or on standby. In a container drug bust, this would be at the minimum, be the DPCI investigators, K-9 dog, and LCRC to collect evidence”
