Shukuru

Brigadier Nkhwashu, Deputy District Commissioner Sedibeng and Acting District Commissioner had asked Sergeant Shukuru to ask Lt. Gen. Shibiri not to oppose bail of Mr Tau on a new facts application.

“Sergeant Shukuru approached me to ask about the Vereeniging murder investigation ... Brigadier Nkhwashu, the Deputy District Commissioner ... had asked him to ask me not to oppose the bail application of Mr Tau ... this is not a new bail application but a further application on new facts and we had already opposed the bail”

Sergeant Shukuru claimed to be sent by Brigadier Nkhwashu to thank Lt. Gen. Shibiri but Lt. Gen. Shibiri found the request inappropriate because he had already opposed bail and did not agree with not opposing bail.

“Sergeant Shukuru... said he was asked to convey the message of appreciation ... this previous request was that I not oppose the bail and I could not agree to that request ... I do not know why he is approaching me like this”

Lieutenant-General Shibiri told that Brigadier Nkhwashu was sending Shukuru to speak to investigators regarding bail, which happened before December, and that there was gossip about him blocking bail.

“Brigadier Nkhwashu sending Shukuru and to speak to the investigators regarding the bail, I think it happened before December and we are talking in December where I am saying some members of the district informed me that there was a talk about me that I am the one who is blocking the bail.”
