Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department members do arrest suspects in other municipalities (like Soweto) without a formal request by Johannesburg Metro Police Department members, by cooperating or acting based on information.

“Members, they may communicate with members of JMPD or they go to that police station ... it become easier ... but it is happening, they go and arrest”

It is established that, in practice, Ekurhuleni Metro Police members do perform law enforcement functions in other municipalities without prior formal requests or approvals, and such actions have not been legally challenged.

“For now, there is no law that has challenged us ... they have accepted those dockets ... and we must say it is lawful”
