General Shibiri had in excess of R50,000 in credit on a bank statement from 18 September, indicating available funds beyond the overdraft facility for repairs to his son's car.

A deposit of R70,000 was made by Mr Matlalala into General Shibiri's son's account, increasing the balance to R81,000.

General Shibiri denies needing Mr Matlalala’s money for a Thanksgiving function, clarifying that it was not a promotion party nor funded by Mr Matlalala.
