Warrant Officer Jooste

Lt-Col Sibiya confirms receiving a complaint email from Warrant Officer Sander and acted by forwarding it to his Commander Lieutenant Colonel Gopalsamy, who had already drafted a report and sent it to the Provincial Office, concerning a member who was convicted.

“I confirm receiving that complaint ? Yes, I confirm ..... I did hand him over and showed him the email .... He indicated that he already drafted a report regarding this matter ..... the report was sent to the Provincial Office . What I know is that this member was convicted.”

Lt-Col Sibiya states that the complaint was about theft of exhibits, resulting in the conviction and resignation of Warrant Officer Jooste from the service.

“It was in relation to the theft of exhibits .... he was convicted and he resigned from the service. Warrant Officer Jooste.”

Lt-Col Sibiya explains that a chain of custody issue over exhibits related to cocaine and mandrax was blamed on Warrant Officer Jooste after Lt-Col Jacob gave exhibits to Jooste who failed to deliver them to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).

“Colonel Jacob had handed over the exhibits to Warrant Officer Jooste, and then Warrant Officer Jooste was supposed to take the exhibits to Forensics, and he did not take them ..... he also submitted a chain statement to say that indeed they received the exhibits from Colonel Jacob and forwarded them to FSL ..... meanwhile, the exhibits were not received and the acknowledgement receipt could not be found.”
