Brigadier Nkhuwashu denies being a corrupt police officer and says he would never manipulate bail process; if he wanted to, he would approach the magistrate directly, not manipulate police processes.
“I am not a corrupt officer and I would never do that. And Commissioner, if I wanted to do that, I would have rather approached the Magistrate handling that case...”
Brigadier Nkhuwashu agrees there are corrupt police officers who use any means to get their way but says that is too low for him as an experienced cop.
“I do accept there are corrupt police officers who will use any means and ways to get it their way, but not an experienced cop like me, doing it that way. That was too low for me.”
Brigadier Nkhuwashu denies knowing that his brother-in-law was willing to pay bail for the accused prior to the information being shared by Mr Molefe.
“I also want to know, how did he know that my brother-in-law is willing to pay that bail equally to how much is going to be affixed?...I also want to know, Commissioner.”
Brigadier Nkhuwashu denies that Sergeant Tshukudu informed him that Witness B opposed bail.
“Yes, I deny it happened.”
