Lead prosecutor

Lead investigators and lead prosecutors or chief investigators form part of management and conduct briefing and cascade information to investigation teams, who do not know all the operational details at their level.

In a past Section 27 referral investigation, the lead prosecutor provided all necessary and relevant information forthwith, but in the current Section 27 referral (Fidel Adams matter), information was not forthcoming and investigators were told they would not receive Section 27 documents by Advocate Ramsamy.

Final decisions on whether to arrest or summon an accused person lie with a team beyond the Investigating Director, including lead prosecutors, lead investigators, and heads of operations.
