Warrant Officer Mpangase states he did not act on a request from Colonel Jacob to speak to Captain KG Sibiya as claimed by Jacob.

“That did not happen that way .”

Colonel Jacob and Captain KG Sibiya took photos at the scene of the seizure, covering every step from opening the container to cutting the lock and arranging the bags, except for sealing the exhibit bags.

“I can not say, but we took photos of every step of the way from the opening of the container, the cutting of the lock, the bags that were there. Upon reaching Isipingo, laying it out in rows, the only photos that were absent were obviously sealing the mine exhibit bags”

When Colonel Jacob returned from leave, all the docket and enquiries originally allocated to Mpangase were disseminated to other officers, and Jacob had not issued any instruction to take over specific enquiries.

“All of the dockets and enquiries that were allocated to him were now disseminated to others. So, it was not this specific case. And the reason that this had come to me is generally the norm that where a member is involved in an operation, then you are the IO. Now the three options we had was myself, KG Sibiya, and Mpangase.”
