Lt-Col Sibiya did not know of a document that required reporting before assisting but reported to Captain Majola's office who was acting while Col Jacob was on leave.
“No, no, I do not know of such a document. Your report to your Immediate Commander of all the activities that you are about to partake. So, you just inform him. ... I went to Captain Majola’s office who was acting, because Colonel Jacob was on leave.”
Lt-Col Sibiya was allowed to assist by Captain Majola on 23rd and 24th despite the office being locked and Colonel Jacob being absent.
“And then Captain Majola’s office was locked but I contacted him. Hence, he allowed me to assist again on the 23rd and on the 24th.”
Lt-Col Sibiya informed Captain Majola before going and after returning about the activities he was requested to assist with by Warrant Officer Mpangase who placed him on duty.
“I informed him to say I have been requested by Warrant Officer Mpangase to assist him. He said, no problem. ... Then in the morning on the 23rd, I briefed him of what has transpired on the 22nd. Then he was all right.”
On 8 November 2021, Brigadier Nyuswa informed of a theft of drugs at Port Shepstone, and Colonel Jacob was called to the scene with Captain Majola and others.
“On 8 November 2021, I was called by Brigadier Nyuswa, who informed me of the theft of drugs incident at Port Shepstone. I proceeded with Captain Majola to the scene. General Senona and Brigadier Nyuswa arrived a short while later. LCRC was in attendance, and Captain Majola and I canvassed the area for CCTV footage.”
