Maj-Gen Senona was informed by operational members that SAPS Isipingo did not have adequate storage facilities for seized drugs, and similarly the KZN FSL laboratory lacked adequate facilities.

MAJ-GEN SENONA testified that drugs were seized at Isipingo police station and that Isipingo members booked the exhibits at SAPS Isipingo, but Isipingo did not have storage facilities; seizure could be recorded in SAP 13.
“there were drugs seized there ... it is a police station called Isipingo ... members went to Isipingo to book the exhibits ... members that Isipingo said they do not have storage facility but seizure can be written into the SAP 13”
Lt-Col Sibiya overheard Warrant Officer Perumal talking to Colonel Jacob on 22 June 2021 at SAPS Isipingo stating that they do not have space to store the drugs and discussing that a team would arrive to escort the drugs.
“On 2021-06-22, the day of the seizure, while at the SAPS Isipingo, I overheard the SAP 13 Clerk Warrant Officer Perumal talking to Colonel Jacob, stating that they do not have space to store the drugs. Thereafter, I overheard speaking over the phone, indicating that we require a place to store drugs. After deliberation, Colonel Jacob informed us that the Brigadier had indicated that a team would arrive to escort the drugs.”
