Witness I stayed at Mr Matlala's family property in Mamelodi for approximately two years from 2023.

In September 2023, Witness I was attacked by four men at his residence in Mamelodi and seriously injured.

“On or about September 2023, there was an attempt on my life. I was residing in Mamelodi when a group of four men attacked me at my residence...hit my head with a metal object, resulting in a serious head injury...breaking my left hand and several fingers...They then stole my state-issued firearm and left me for dead”

Major Phiri visited Mamelodi and Cullinan sites after termination letters were issued to assess the situation, and reported damaged equipment and vandalism.

“The first ones that I went to is in Mamelodi and Cullinan . Because there were water issues . And I did not dispute the termination ... When I got there the clear view fence was gone . The pump was damaged on all those three . ... the pump station in Mamelodi , it was vandalised , water was not coming out . But I could not do anything , because they were stopped”

Major Phiri says he usually deposits money received directly to the bank but sometimes leaves cash for someone else to pay if he is not available.

“Usually I deposit it at the bank . I go on Mondays . But because I am an industrious man , I stay far and they are in Mamelodi , then I deposit those in cash and when and when I have cash , but maybe I am in the hospital or something , I ask someone , just please pay this account for me”
