Major Phiri visited Mamelodi and Cullinan sites after termination letters were issued to assess the situation, and reported damaged equipment and vandalism.

“The first ones that I went to is in Mamelodi and Cullinan . Because there were water issues . And I did not dispute the termination ... When I got there the clear view fence was gone . The pump was damaged on all those three . ... the pump station in Mamelodi , it was vandalised , water was not coming out . But I could not do anything , because they were stopped”
