Sergeant Nkosi denies paying Natasha for information, stating he gave her money as a token of appreciation simply because he knows her, not for information.
“I think now I have got to clarify the matter of paying Natasha for the information. I did not pay Natasha for information. I just gave her money because I know her.”
Sergeant Nkosi explains the phrase 'Where can I send token of appreciation?' referred just to saying thank you, not a monetary payment.
“Just a thank you ... It was not about money. ... Just thank you for talking to her, that I have spoken to her.”
Sergeant Nkosi states he did not pay Natasha for information as he already had everything about Musa Khawula and did not need to pay her for information.
“That information was never paid. As you see there in paragraph 4, Commissioner said: “I have everything about him... “”
Sergeant Nkosi refuses to disclose what the token of appreciation was for on grounds of not wanting to upset the Commissioner and saying it was just to say thank you for talking to Natasha.
“I do not want to upset the Commissioner. ... Just thank you for talking to her, Commissioner. That I have spoken to her.”
Sergeant Nkosi shared information with a journalist named Natasha, including Mr. Khawula's details and a warrant of arrest, so she could call the nearest police to effect an arrest if she saw Mr. Khawula around.
“I think shared it just to assure this one that she must not worry, I have got everything that I wanted, I do not need her to give me that information, the way. Maybe if she sees him around where she have fun, she would call the nearest police office, officers to come and effect arrest.”
Mr Ngoato expressed frustration over the continual emergence of new documents in the questioning causing issues of credibility and the burdensome task of handling thousands of pages without sufficient time.
“And the reason I raised this issue is the continuing trend that every single time a line of questioning come up, I allow the witness to finish answering it, but then becomes an issue of credibility at the end of the line of question to say, no, you are actually lying or what you are saying is false. Because if we pull out the following documents, we will prove you wrong… new documents are revealed and revealed … I indicated to you, it was not just a bank statement. It was also written statements and again it was a manner in which it was trying to sneak into my file giving somebody who is not even a member of the law firm to go and edit my files…”
Sergeant Nkosi obtained a contact number for Mr. Khawula through Natasha, an SABC presenter who is a friend of Mr. Khawula.
“I think it is the person that gave the number. She is a friend to Mr Khawula.”
Sergeant Nkosi received the contact number for Mr. Khawula through WhatsApp from Natasha.
“Through WhatsApp.”
Sergeant Nkosi knew Natasha socially from her being a former student at TUT, not through police channels.
“She used to be a student in TUT, and I know her from there.”
Sergeant Nkosi denies paying Natasha for the information.
“Did you pay her for this information? No.”
