Lieutenant Colonel Sebola stated Warrant Officer Phakula's supervisor was Colonel Sipungu, who was supposedly at the scene but Sebola did not see him, only heard about his presence.
“Colonel Sipungu, who is Warrant Officer Phakula's supervisor ... I did not see Colonel Sipungu on the scene, only heard. Then I even heard from him that he was there at the scene”
Lieutenant Colonel Sebola testified that Colonel Sipungu should not have been at the scene as he was on leave in early July and only returned on 12 July 2021, so his presence was not appropriate.
“He should not have been there ... because he came back on the 12th of July from leave”
There is a material contradiction in the statements regarding Warrant Officer Phakula's involvement: General Khan stated Phakula's supervisor Colonel Sipungu did not know Phakula was involved, contradicting Detective Sipungu's statement that Phakula informed him of the operation.
“there was a statement from General Khan stating that he contacted Warrant Officer Phakula's supervisor, Colonel Sipungu who informed him that he did not know that Phakula was involved in the operation and it materially contradicts the statement of Detective Sipungu who states that Phakula did inform him of the operation”
